Because of telecom’s well-documented risks, it may make sense for investors to leave the choices up to portfolio managers. Recent strong telecom fund performers:


ProFunds Ultra Telecommunications Services, up 9 percent in 2006 and 9 percent the past 12 months.


Fidelity Select Telecommunications, up 5 percent and 17 percent.


T. Rowe Price Media and Telecommunications, up 8 percent and 30 percent. Owning shares in several successful giants would be a sensible move right now, experts say:
